Privacy Policy
Effective October 23, 2026
Salt helps families keep a record of their children's activities, clubs, achievements and school records, and cheer them on with kudos. This policy explains what we collect in the Salt app and at saltapp.org, why, who we share it with, and how you can delete it.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, a password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form), your relationship in the family (parent, guardian or child), and an optional profile photo.
- Children's details, entered by a parent: name, and optionally a birth date, school, grade, a short headline and bio, a photo, a username, and a 4-digit PIN for signing in (also stored hashed). Children don't need an email address.
- Records: activities, clubs, sports, awards, school and other records you add, with their roles, results, dates, notes and any photo or PDF attached, plus a history of changes to them.
- Kudos, rewards, likes and comments: kudos given and received, with their notes and photos; the rewards a family sets up and claims; and likes and comments on kudos and records.
- Settings: your language, time zone and which notifications you want.
- Device and usage information: a push notification token for each phone you sign in on, the type of phone (Android or iPhone), and when and from which IP address you last signed in.
We don't use advertising, sell your information, or track you across other apps and websites. The app doesn't include analytics or ad tools.
How we use it
- To run Salt: show your family its records, kudos, feed, rewards and levels.
- To send the notifications you've chosen, such as new kudos, likes, comments, rewards and level ups, by push notification or email.
- To keep accounts secure, for example by limiting sign-in attempts and locking a PIN after too many wrong tries.
- To answer your questions and fix problems.
Who can see it
- Your family: parents and guardians in a family see its children's records, kudos and feed. A child sees their own records and kudos, and kudos given to the family's parents.
- People outside your family only see something when you share it with them: if someone scans your kudos QR code, they see your first name and photo so they can give you kudos.
- Salt's administrators can access accounts to run the service and help with problems.
Service providers
We share information only with companies that help us run Salt, and only as needed for that:
- Laravel Cloud hosts our servers, database and uploaded files.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, and through it Apple's push notification service, delivers push notifications. They receive your phone's push token and the notification's text.
- Mailgun delivers emails such as password resets and kudos notices. It receives your email address and the email's content.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Children's privacy
Salt is meant to be set up and managed by parents and guardians. Only adults 18 and over can create an account themselves, and they confirm their age when they sign up. A parent creates each child's account and decides what goes in it, and can change or delete it at any time. Children can't sign up on their own. If you believe a child's information was added without a parent's permission, contact us and we'll delete it.
Keeping your information safe
Information travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Passwords and PINs are stored hashed. Uploaded photos and files are private, and the links to them expire after a short time.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account in the app at any time under Me → Settings → Delete account. Deleting is permanent:
- Your account, profile, photo, comments, likes and push tokens are deleted, along with the kudos and records you received.
- If you created the family, the whole family is deleted with you: its children, everything about them, and its rewards. Other parents keep their own accounts.
- A parent can also delete a child's account, with all their records and kudos: on the Family screen, tap the child, then Remove at the bottom.
You can also ask us to delete your account or any of your information by emailing support@lnidigital.com from the email address on your account. We'll do it within 30 days. Server backups that contain deleted information are overwritten over time.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists, and delete it when you delete your account as described above.
Your choices
- Change or remove your information and your children's in the app at any time.
- Turn each kind of notification on or off under Me → Settings → Push notifications, or in your phone's settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your information or to correct it by emailing us.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email if the change is significant.
